Khanvel Resort turns “ATMANIRBHAR”, uses resort property to grow Veggies

Mumbai : PM Modi announced recently in an address that he intends to make the nation self-sufficient and self-reliant and urged every individual, community and business to adopt the same function. Very close to this vision, MD Nirmal Jain of Khanvel Resort has already converted the huge well spread property into an organic zone. Following this the ‘Atmanirbhar Yojana’ came into existence which promotes the concept of availing local products and services and reinstates the slogan of ‘Make in India. Khanvel Resorts which has property spread over more than 15 acres of land has started sustainable farming activities within their compound to cultivate organic homegrown produce. This initiative has been taken by the resort to support the motto of Atmanirbharta led by Mr. Narendra Modi and contribute towards a sustainable tomorrow. 


The travel and hospitality industry has faced a hard blow due to the pandemic and the followed lockdown. Several employees and house staff have returned back to their hometowns, while many others are currently housed at the resort and are provided with food and utilities. These employees have engaged themselves in daily Yoga, the Chefs into providing healthy eating solutions and being part of the organic farming initiative to promote a healthy living.
“Atmanirbharta is a concept that will lead the ‘new normal’ post the Covid-19. We must learn to be self-sufficient and self-reliant not just as a country but also as individuals.” Said Founder of Khanvel Resorts, Mr. Nirmal Jain. 


The 2 acre organic farm is producing cucumbers, ladyfingers, cauliflower, coriander, chillies, mint, bottle gourd, tomatoes, pumpkin, etc. These farms are located near the Khanvel riverside cottages and will prove to be a delightful view to the guests once the resort opens for service again. While the organic farming takes place, proper precautions are taken to maintain sanitation and hygiene and social distancing is observed religiously. 
“The lockdown has been difficult on everyone. It’s lovely to work on the farm, it is helping us learn so much and we have something interesting to do rather than being cooped up indoors.” Said a member of the staff at Khanvel.

As we maintain social distancing and remain safe and sound in our respective homes during the Covid-19, several individuals are finding it hard to even break bread on a daily basis since a lot of them, especially in a country like ours, relied on a daily wager income module. Carrying the core principles of social responsibility and social awareness, Ample Missiion has stepped forward to tackle these challenges posed by the Covid-19 situation and the consequent socio-economic impact on the people from weaker sections of society by providing them with the basic, essential necessities that are required for survival. 
Founder Dr Aneel Kashi Murarka and Co-founder Sidhaant Murarka along with Team Ample Missiion, spearheaded the initiative at different levels both in terms of online awareness through their social media platforms with innovative content sharing on daily basis to ensure that this message reaches out to as many people as possible and also on-ground by reaching out to the affected individuals and communities at large.

Since the 21-day nationwide shutdown came into effect, Ample Missiion began these initiatives by reaching out to people and communities such as the homeless, slum dwellers, poor and migrant laborers and daily wage workers, ie. people that are bearing the hardest brunt of the lockdown.
The series of activities began with the distribution of free Masks and sanitizers to commuters and essential service wokers. Team Ample Missiion then further went on to distribute Meal packets at different city points to the homeless and daily wagers. After the 21 days lockdown was declared, they have now began community outreach programs in different suburban slum pockets by identifying 100 plus needy families each day with the help of local support groups and providing them with monthly Dry Ration Kits with 9-10 essential items packed for each family’s daily use.  
In addition Ample Missiion is also contributing toward purchasing of various essential medicines, sanitation kits and safety suits for medical teams active in rural districts of Maharashtra and other states, this is a collaborative effort with other medical NGOs (patronised by Ample Mission) who are involved in detecting community spread of Covid-19 and also treating Coronavirus positive cases in different village hospitals as medical volunteers.
The word about a dire need for an extension of the lockdown has been doing the rounds. Ample Mission has pledged to support the underprivileged and stand by them through the entire duration of this 21 day lockdown and will continue to render their services to the community incase an extension of the lockdown is announced.

Vanitaa Pande had been a homemaker from the age of 18. Always a dreamer, she wanted to make a name of herself and do things that were inspirational but the overwhelm of life never allowed her to pursue her dreams to her utmost satisfaction. She got caught up in raising her children and looking after her family and amidst all of that, life moved on. She was always fond of acting and dancing but music came as a blessing to her. A friend once told her that she had a lovely voice and that she should try her hand at singing and that’s when she realised that she was talented but never happened to chance upon the right opportunity. She realised that it is not always that opportunities come knocking at your door.
