Ashutosh Gowariker’s Period Drama Panipat Is All Set To Create History On-screen With A Mammoth Star Cast Of 110 Actors
When one sets out to re-create one of the largest battles of history on-screen, it is but obvious that it will be a colossal affair, but it seems like maverick director Ashutosh Gowariker is all set to take his magnum opus Panipat to an all-new cinematic high.
Right from building majestic sets, hiring the best technical team to casting the finest talents from the industry, every tiny detail is taken care of to ensure that the audience gets a one of its kind cinematic experience. And now it is learnt that the film will also have a mammoth star cast apart from the lead actors Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt.
Gowariker, who is known for his historical dramas, has roped in about 110 actors for Panipat and apparently each one of them will be having a substantial part in the film.
Casting director Rohan Mapuskar after month-long research and auditions has finally locked the final cast of the film and it is undoubtedly a mighty one. Speaking about the enormous star cast, Mapuskar said, “The third battle of Panipat lasted for several days and involved almost 125,000 troops, so you can imagine the scale of it. There were many important people involved in this battle, hence we had to cast so many actors in the film. Director Ashutosh Gowariker has envisioned the film on a huge scale, and Panipat will definitely be a grand cinematic experience.”
Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat, which is one of the most epic battles in the history of India that took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat. The battle was fought between the northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali, supported by two Indian allies—the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.
The film is produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar’s company – Vision World. The film is scheduled to release on December 6, 2019.

Sketching the journey of finding one’s own identity, Mukherjee Dar Bou is presented, directed, and enacted by the women of the Bengali cinema. Adding to the ferocious crew is playback singer Nikhita Gandhi who lends her voice for this special film.
Releasing this Women’s Day, the movie celebrates womanhood and takes you on a journey to discover yourself without any shelter from the counter gender. To add essence to the narrative, Nikhita Gandhi sings the popular ‘Rabindra Sangeet’. Interestingly, this is the first time that the singer has been roped in for Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s production house.
The soulful lyrics of the song sketches the journey of a bird trapped inside a cage and wants to break free, just like another wild bird who can fly around everywhere without being trapped. It personifies the beauty of the film and etches to the characters in the movie.
Nikhita Gandhi has previously worked on a lot of films and is loved nation-wide for her versatility and voice. However, this is the first time she has sung for Windows Production and voiced to the lyrics of Tagore song. Well, this only adds to yet another reason for you to join in the journey of these women and discover your true self.
The movie is presented by Nandita Das, directed by Pritha Chakraborty, penned by Samragnee Bandyopadhyay and stars Koneenica Banerjee, Anashua Majumdar, Rituparna Sengupta in the lead. ‘Mukherjee Dar Bou’ is an ode to all the women who have the same question but no answer. It is also the first time in West Bengal that the movie is releasing especially targeting the women, by the women on a women’s day!

For the first time in Hindi film industry, a complete video has been shot in the serene locations of Andaman Islands and is inspired by a true story, that took place between the protected tribes of Andaman & Nicobar Islands & a tourist. The video is Directed by National Award winning Director Pradeep Sarkar and written by National Award winner Lyricist Swanand Kirkire. Featuring Actor Richa Chadda and debutant Ankit D’souza, a fresh face. The event started with a soulful performance by Pandit Rattan Mohan Sharma and followed by performance by Benny Dayal and Prakriti Kakar. This was then followed by unveiling the look and showcasing the video to all dignitaries and members of media fraternity. The soulful music has been composed by Meet Brothers, popular youngsters who have a high rate of commercial success for the original music composed and Director of Photography by Sylvester Fonseca who has high regard in the entertainment industry for creating visual magic on screen and choreographed by renowned Ranju Varghese. National Award winner Director Pradeep Sarkar, expressed his excitement saying, “Neel Samandar is a first of its kind in so many ways and I have enjoyed this entire process of creating this as right from adventurous recce to shooting the entire video in Andamans, it was a completely new experience for me and this being a first, the creative excellence that we achieved with the virgin locales of Andamans was magnanimous.” Swanand Kirkire whose lyrics has adorned this music video said “Lyrics are the soul of any song and specially when it I was told the video is based on a love story of a tribal girl and a photographer, the process of writing it was more challenging, yet more interesting.” Meet Brothers who have composed this soulful creation said “We are honored to be working with two National Award winning talents in one video and when it comes to conceptualizing music for a romantic plot, it becomes all the more special.” Isha S Kumar who is debuting with this music video as a producer said “Neel Samandar is very special for us as Producers as we achieved many firsts with this project. First time a complete project is filmed in Andamans and first time Richa Chadha has played a tribal in her career.” Rahul Bagga who after a successful stint in acting is exploring the field of production with Neel Samandar, said “Our aim was to make Neel Samandar a cinematic experience for the viewers and all the crew and talent that came together to shoot it in Andamans.
